If you are interested Extended Patient Comfort Exams, you may request one of these appointment types during scheduling. Both options are excellent for pets that are often more nervous around others. Our canine patients benefit from the comfort exams because they are given a little extra time to adjust to the excitement of their visit. We’ve found that a few minutes in our K-9 Athletic facility for free play often helps our anxious or overly excited patients calm down. Exams often run smoother when our patients have time to adjust to the new surroundings. Exam time is much more productive and enjoyable this way – it is a win-win for everyone!

Our doctors will make thorough, professional recommendations for treatment and if additional procedures are needed. We work to customize a plan that fits both you and your pet’s needs.

Scheduled surgery patients receive an appointment time for admission the morning of the surgery. The doctor will meet and discuss with you all of the details of the procedure, allowing you time to learn more and ask questions you may have. We may recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork for certain pets, and all of that will be discussed during appointments prior to the surgery. During surgical procedures, patients receive monitoring of heart rate and respiration. Gas anesthetic and pain medications and a bed warmer are used as well.

Some surgery patients will be discharged late in the afternoon on surgery day, while others will have an overnight stay. The doctor will discuss this with you at admission time. Upon discharge from exams or on the day of discharge for surgery patients, you will receive an itemized list of charges along with discharge instructions. Follow ups may be necessary and scheduled in advance.

Acupuncture treatments may take 40 minutes up to 1 hour. Some owners choose to stay with their pet during treatments, while others schedule an admission and discharge time for the treatment. Rehabilitation physical therapy, on the other hand, is a customized session and may vary in time length – the doctor will discuss this with you.
